Comfortably classy

This is actually from the Bemidji trip, but it is exactly what I will be wearing on the trip to London on Wednesday! In other words, this outfit is amazingly comfortable, but I don't look like I just rolled out of bed in my pjs and Uggs. And, no, I do not own Uggs. When I buy shoes, I like to actually be proud of them. Besides, I believe it's time to bring back classy dressing to the airports. Sometimes, I feel sorry for people who work there on a daily basis. What clothing horrors they see!

Be classy and comfortable, people.

denim on denim

I normally hate denim on denim. This outfit took some getting used to, but it was unbelievably comfortable for jeans. I was coming back from Bemidji and needed a shirt that billowed to allow ravenous snackage.

nostalgic sales

I've rediscovered Maurice's this summer. It used to be *THE* only place I bought my clothes when I was in high school. Turns out they have amazing sales. Thanks to an old punch ten card of my mom's, I got this dress for free. Huzzah for no expiration dates!

I'm a couple posts behind. I wore this on Saturday. I'm in Bemidji with my mom for the weekend. A quick time to recharge for a mini-vacation. Pardon my face. I decided to quick take a picture before dashing out the door. For Chocolate. What? I would never eat late at night. *snickers* Oooh, I want Snickers.

Also, I finally got an invite to Google+, so if you're there already join me! Or ask for an invite. I've got plenty.

A bought this awesome watch at a local secondhand store today! The band broke and I had to buy a new one, but I'm absolutely in love. I first started to love watches like this because of What I Wore.

On another note, I love this skirt. Thrifted, from Talbot's.

lazylazylazylazylazylaz. . . . .

I have noticed that since I don't see anyone besides my family, I don't dress nice. AT ALL. Total fail. I need to stop dressing like a hobo. I started exercising on a normal basis, so maybe I'll have to go shopping for all new clothes eventually ;-)

more TOMS!

This is one of the many outfits that I tried on for an interview tomorrow. I got my new silver TOMS today! =) So this is not the final outfit for the interview, primarily because I don't know what that is yet. Pants or skirt? Oh the dilemma.

shirt: Charlotte Russe
skirt: Talbot's
shoes: TOMS

While looking at old pictures for inspiration, I discovered that I stick to about two pairs of shoes. My goal is to now variate my shoes, as I have a wide collection.

Wish me luck tomorrow! Interview at 1:30p with LTD Commodities.

be classy and fabulous

Wow, three months since I've ben here. Sorry about that. In the mean time, here is one of my favorite quotes from Coco Chanel, the original classy woman (in dress, but definitely not in morals).

argyle + print + flamingo legs

Today I realized I haven't worn a skirt or jeans in just forever. But  almost wore the exact same outfit again. Because of you, I tried something new. It will probably will be a smidge warmer, so I think it's a good choice :) A year ago, I would have been scared silly of this outfit, now I love it :)

beautiful beautiful day

Today was so beautiful that I didn't even need a coat! I'm sitting in Caribou right now about to do my homework. Fortunately, I don't have too much, but I need more people for pictures. My panel review for my senior project is the beginning of next month! Crazy to think that graduation is so close! Speaking of which, I need to order a tea and buckle down on homework.

red coat

this is my beautiful red coat that I got from H&M. One of my more spendy pieces, but so worth it. I need to learn to do that more. I love that it is so nice that I can wear this. Amazing, don't even need my transition coat. :)

i am demanding spring

I woke up at 8:30 this morning. Don't judge. For me, that's early. I would rather stay up until four in the morning, than get up at 7. But lately, I have realized that I am getting old. This super senior is slowly ridding herself of all-nighters....Well, since I was up 'early,' I was able to work out, shower and have a good attitude for the day. Thus, the crazy pose. I should get a normal sleeping schedule one of these days. Well in 2.5 months I will be graduating, so that should help :)

And yes, my elbows over-extend.
You should see what my thumbs can do.

new jeans!

Well, not really. When I flew back to school after Christmas break, my luggage weighed too much [surprise, surprise], so I had to leave these jeans back home. They came in the mail yesterday, and I was quite overjoyed to have more of my essential wardrobe back in custody.

Can you tell I'm wearing knee socks with my jeans? I think it's an ingenious idea. Keeps me so much warmer. I actually wore this outfit with a gray sleeveless sweater. [layering is my fave]

The last time I wore this dress I wore a necklace, but it always got caught in the fabric. Thus, I ditched the necklaces for a pair of lovely earrings today :)

I got this dress for a wedding dress rehearsal of one of my friend's. Speaking of which I'm a bridesmaid in her wedding, and i absolutely ADORE my dress. Amazingly comfortable and classy. [I just need to lay off the ice cream to make sure I still fit into it!]  I'm so glad I got this one. I need to stitch the straps [a bit loose], but otherwise I love this dress.

Sorry for the absence. I pretty much died from this sickness that has spread all over campus. That, and who dresses up during snow days? That's right, I said days, as in plural. I've had three days off school. Well, technically I skipped a class because I was feeling sick on Tuesday, but I digress. First day this week I really felt pretty. [oops]

Well, I'm not wearing shoes yet, but I'll probably wear converse. Thus, you only get a headshot today. Besides, I need to go eat.

green and red

So that 'nothing major' tuned into a major. Bronchitis and a fever. Yuck. So I slept for two days and now I am feeling significantly better.
I did my hair a little different today. If you follow me on twitter, you know that a catastrophe happened. Suffice to say, don't trim your bangs when you are is much harder than it looks. Obviously I haven't improved upon my hairdresser skills since first grade. So anyway, I tried to disguise it with bobby-pins to keep certain pieces in place.

I'm sick today. Nothing major, just my throat. But it's annoying. This morning it hurt to just breathe. And seeing as how I tend to breathe quite frequently, like...every second of every day that was rather irritating. Thus, no smile from megan today.

socks + tights

I love my outfit today. My room-mate always makes fun of me because my clothes are extremely wholesome. She is from the Netherlands and said that there is a church back home called the Black Stocking Church, who all wear really modest clothes. She said I should join, but that's pretty far to go for church. I would have a continual case of jet-lag and I'm just not prepared for that ;) If any of you watch/have seen Will & Grace, she is Karen and I am Grace.

It has been a really long time since I wore a dress [this one has pockets!!], months probably. I should definitely wear them more often, so easy to get dressed in the morning.

Roll Me Up

I decided to put my hair up today. I stole Christa's idea for today. It didn't look nearly as nice as hers, but I still like it. Not looking forward to the midwestern chills, and the requirement of a winter hat. Anyway, I discovered the absolute best way to see a 360 view of your hair! Open PhotoBooth [or whatever the camera is on pc's] and go to video. Voila! 360 degree mirror :)

And yes, you are given the wonderful opportunity to listen to seven seconds of the Kooks.

feelin' nautical

This is the shirt I got for 5 bucks at Penney's. Sah-weeet. Despite having a shower, I didn't feel like wearing a skirt today. This shirt would probably look really weird with a skirt, and I really like wearing new clothes. That is my reasoning [COUGH excuse COUGH].

winter found me

I am officially out of transition. I tried to hang onto my wool fall-to-winter coat for as long as possible. But when the high is 8 degrees, it makes you rethink your priorities.

So after some sporadic shopping at JCP and Charlotte Russe [two shirts and a sweater for less than 20? how could I possibly resist?] I cleaned out all my drawers and the closet. My drawer was starting to squeak because it was too heavy and I just couldn't find "anything" to wear in the mornings. The results: a much happier megan and two garbage bags for Goodwill filled with good clothes that I never wear [or just don't fit because I have had them since high school. Yup that is my excuse... not my tragic love for chocolate.] So refreshing to be able to find clothes.

Yes, I just showed you my closet. I feel so brave. [and mortified] I am still amazed that Elaine at ClothedMuch can do so much with her limited wardrobe. I get into a rut way too easily. Aren't you impressed with my shirts being filed? I got the idea over at Apartment Therapy. Brilliant.

diamonds or no debt?

Today was quite a bit nicer, high of 22--WOOT! Weird how our concept of temperature gets warped through the seasons. I have this awesome necklace. A suitcase and bejeweled camera. Yeah, those are diamonds. [yeah right. If I had diamonds I would sell them to pay off school loans.] I felt fat today, so no high waisted skirt. Comfy jeans that look like dress pants instead [I am so incredibly sneaky...or just lazy] Cafeteria food is not conducive to a well-balanced diet.

My shirt has pockets!! Sorry for that random outburst, but pockets make me happy.

Doesn't my hair look much better today? I washed it. It's really easy, but sometimes I'm too busy. [Gross, I know.]

Layer Up!

Do you remember those horrible awful, slouchy black boots in my last post? I do. [unfortunately] Well, lucky for me, I have a fabulous mother and she bought me a new pair of boots. They aren't even fabric! Anyway....

I have seen the trend of tights and knee high socks for a long time now. Loved it since I first saw it. Strangely, though, I have never worn it. Well, yesterday after freezing my tootsies [spell check says tortoises] off, I decided to layer up this morning.

Mental note: TOMS are not acceptable footwear in the middle of January. They are now banished to my closet until spring shows its lovely face [hoping--quite delusionally--for March].

Also, I decided to change up my scarf tying abilities. Thanks to Jessica over at What I Wore, which is a fabulous blog I assure you.

I got to go thrift shopping today! North Dakota farms often equate to the boonies,  but there is a local thrift shop. [Local meaning about 25 miles away] In honor of my last day home, mom and I went shopping. I found some great deals [a full suit for $7.50] and beautiful clothes [gorgeous black-and-white cardigan]-- to be exhibited at a later date :)

I wonder if God got stressed when He made the world [i worry over bread]

Some days....I just do not look cute. Like days when I make bread from scratch. But I still like to think that in a way this displays Classic Femininity. Since I was, you know, classily making bread. [yes, it is quite possible that I am deranged] How do you make bread in a classy way? With flour in your hair of course. There is a reason you can't see my face. Actually, by this time, I had un-bobby pinned my bangs and look somewhat normal.

Grab this button!

I decided to finally make a blog button tonight [as well as a real header]. I hope ya'll like it. Feel free to add it to your own blog. The picture is of my grandmother Margaret Pauley. She was beautiful, both inside and out. A perfect example of classic femininity. She was the homecoming queen, with her future husband as the king. How cute can you get? She was in the top three for Mother of the Year in the 80s. Unfortunately, she died before I really got to know her, but I do know that she was an amazing woman.

I must say, the more I mix prints together, the more I love it. It's very quirky and something I would definitely not have done a year ago. And I do think that without this blog, I still wouldn't be doing it. Same for color. Looking at your outfits--well at least the ones you want the world to see--makes you see how you can get into a rut. I wear this skirt way too often, but it's the only knee-length skirt I have [not really feeling floor length right now] aside from my denim one. Time to go to Goodwill!
