Fortunate to be Women

Why do women want to dress like men when they’re fortunate enough to be women? Why lose our femininity which is one of our greatest charms? We get much more accomplished by being charming than we would by flaunting around in pants and smoking. I’m very fond of men. I Think they’re wonderful creatures. I love them dearly. But I don’t want to look like one. When women gave up their long skirts, they made a grave error.
::Tasha Tudor::

I don't think that just because you wear pants means you are flaunting your body [although it is much easier]. But I thought this quote brought up a good point. Since feminism has started, there was been a downward spiral in a lack of feminine clothing. Kind of ironic, huh? Trust me, I am glad I can vote for myself and actually have rights, but many women have never even worn a skirt or dress. I find this quite sad, because I always feel so much better about the way I look in a flattering dress than in sweatpants and a hoodie. Women should be grateful for what they are. Beautiful, charming, lovely and gorgeous.

Disclaimer: I am not in any way saying that women who choose to dress in sweats are not women, or don't like wearing feminine clothes. I have a room-mate and best friend as living proof.

totally cheating

I hope someone reads this blog. Because, well, frankly, I find myself kind of hilarious. [i pretend in order to bring my own ego some happiness] I am totally cheating today, I wore this to my second cousin's birthday party, we went bowling! [he is six and absolutely adorable] So yes, this is the SAME sweater, but it's the same day, and I was feeling lazy [i.e. I could not even pick out new clothes for myself]. There is absolutely no guarantee of posting cute clothes over Christmas break because, well, I clean and lounge around all day--not much to doll up for. Which, I know, is just a pitiful excuse.

I've been getting kind of bored of posing, so I decided to jump, but Steve [my handsome 13" macbook pro] doesn't like capturing motion without the effect of looking like a ghost. Alas, only two of the four turned out.

same sweater, different color

I told you. I love wearing newly purchased clothes. What girl doesn't? There is something so fun, new and fresh about it. Even if it is from Goodwill [which, sad to say, I haven't been in months]. My mom kind of laughed at my pink legs today. Ah well, the life of a fashionista. Yes, I just called myself that. The perils of having multiple blogs is that it gets to your head and absolutely ruins your humility. Not me of course. I am still completely devoid of pride. ANYwayyyyy....

gray on gray

I love layering gray on gray. It can be such an elegant look, but just as casual. Sorry for the over-use of my Sears cardigans, but I don't have many long sleeves [which is a problem for someone who has lived in the Midwest her whole life] and I tend to over-wear clothes after I just purchase them. Something I have discovered this winter is socks! Wear knee highs with jeans. no one will even know and you will stay toasty.

white flowers, the II

i love this shirt I got at Target. The flowers sewed on makes it seem like I am wearing a huge brooch. It's quite fun. I loved my outift today, but there is nothing quite like changing out of Sunday clothes and into sweatpants :)

loft love

I was thrilled when I found this blouse! I had never been in LOFT before, but had drooled countless hours over their clothes. I immediately went to the sales rack with absolutely no hope. Joy filled my soul when I saw this shirt. Under $10? Hecks, yes!
